Mayoral Debate Tonight on KGMB TV

The first and probably only broadcast debate between the top 3 candidates for Honolulu Mayor will be held tonight on KGMB TV starting at 6:30 p.m. Mayoral hopefuls Dr. Panos Prevedouros from the University of Hawaii and City Councilmember Ann Kobayashi take on incumbent Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann during the 90 minute debate that will air live from the Hawaii Theater in Downtown Honolulu.

The debate will be moderated by KGMB TV’s Keahi Tucker, Kim Gennaula, and Howard Dicus. KGMB’s Political Analyst Dan Boylan, Honolulu Advertiser columnists Jerry Burris and Lee Cataluna will also moderate.

There will be a live audience at the theater. The debate will also stream live at the website. Honolulu Advertiser’s website. KGMB is also “Twittering” debate questions and news at twitter.com/honoluludebate.

Absentee voting for this year’s primary election started yesterday and will be held through Sept. 18. The regular primary voting day will be on Saturday September 20. The crowded 9-way Mayoral race could be decided by then if a candidate finishes with 50% + 1 vote on Sept. 20. If not the top 2 finishers will face each other in a run-off election on November 4.
